ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SEISMICS IN LATERALLY INHOMOGENEOUS MEDIA III

Nové Hrady Castle
Czech Republic
June 7 - June 11, 2027

FIRST CIRCULAR

Local Chapter of EAGE Czech Republic, in cooperation with the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague, Seismik s.r.o. and Moser Geophysical Services, announces the workshop "ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SEISMICS IN LATERALLY INHOMOGENEOUS MEDIA III" to be held at the Nové Hrady Castle in the Czech Republic.

The workshop will take place immediately following the EAGE 2027 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Amsterdam (31 May – 3 June 2027), facilitating participation for those attending both events.

The APSLIM workshop continues the tradition of the SWLIM (Seismic Waves in Laterally Inhomogeneous Media) workshops held at Liblice Castle (1978, 1983, 1988), Třešť Castle (1995), Zahrádky Castle (2000), Hrubá Skála Castle (2005), and Teplá Premonstratensian Monastery (2010), as well as the more recent APSLIM workshops held at Loučeň Castle (2015) and Želiv Monastery (2022).

The workshop is devoted to theoretical and computational aspects of seismic wave propagation in laterally inhomogeneous and otherwise complex media, as well as to passive seismics. Contributions may address modelling of seismic wavefields, inversion and processing of seismic data in heterogeneous, isotropic or anisotropic, elastic or anelastic structures, and problems of passive seismics, including monitoring of hydraulic fractures. Applications range from seismic exploration and reservoir monitoring to regional and global seismology. Both asymptotic (ray-based) approaches and full-wave forward modelling methods are within the scope of the meeting. The workshop welcomes theoretical contributions as well as carefully documented case studies.

Oral and poster sessions will be organised. Contributed oral presentations are planned for 30 minutes (20 minutes presentation followed by 10 minutes discussion). In keeping with the APSLIM tradition, emphasis will be placed on discussion and exchange of ideas. As accommodation at the Castle is limited, participants are kindly requested to confirm their intention to participate by email at apslimworkshop@gmail.com. In your email please indicate whether you are interested in presenting a paper. Early responses will be appreciated.

The registration fee is EUR 750 if received in full before 31 January 2027, and EUR 850 thereafter. The fee includes registration, full board and accommodation for four nights at the Castle (Monday dinner to Friday breakfast), social activities, conference materials, and publication of proceedings in a Special Issue of Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica. The same fee applies to an accompanying person.

A limited number of partial grants to support student participation will be available. Interested students are invited to contact the organizers. If there is sufficient interest, a programme for accompanying persons may be arranged. Further details concerning deadlines and instructions for the preparation of abstracts will be provided in the Second Circular, to be distributed in October/November 2026.
